Youth with autism gravitate toward STEM majors in college — if they get there

More students with an autism spectrum disorder gravitate toward STEM majors (science, technology, engineering and math) than other students. But they have low college admission rates because of gender, finances and other barriers, finds a new study co-authored by Paul Shattuck, PhD, assistant professor at the Brown School.

Mentors for Bear Cub Fund program to help WUSTL scientists commercialize discoveries  

More than $1.1 million recently funneled to WUSTL scientists through the Bear Cub program has helped move university technologies into the marketplace. To encourage entrepreneurship, the Bear Cub program now provides more hands-on support and incorporates other changes to streamline the application process. One-page applications are due Dec. 10.

U.S. politics and religion

Less than a month after national elections, veteran political journalist George Will delivers the fall keynote lecture for the John C. Danforth Center on Religion & Politics. His talk, “Religion and Politics in the First Modern Nation,” begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, in Graham Chapel.

Volleyball team ends season with 31-4 record 

The No. 3 volleyball team earned wins over College of Mount St. Joseph and No. 15 University of Chicago, before falling to No. 9 Elmhurst College in the NCAA Regional Championship Nov. 11 in Elmhurst, Ill. The Bears ended the season with a 31-4 record
